The US Bureau of Land Management is planning another round of wild horse and burro roundups in California, Nevada, and Utah, in an effort to remove thousands of animals from public land.
Critics say the roundups are causing stress and injury to the animals, KOLO reports.
"At some point we have to say no to livestock and mining," says Laura Leigh, president of Wild Horse Education.
"They try to make range management look complicated, and they try to make the system of holding look complicated."
Leigh's group is suing the BLM over the roundups, and she says it will keep fighting until an enforceable management plan is in place, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Congress mandated that such plans be developed.
