Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has donated $1 million to help minorities in the city get by, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The NBA player and his foundation, the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation, announced Tuesday that they've teamed up with GE HealthCare, the GE HealthCare Foundation, and other groups to create the Powering Milwaukee Forward initiative, which aims to improve the health and well-being of minorities in the city.
Antetokounmpo said in a statement that he's "grateful to the GE HealthCare Foundation, the GE HealthCare Foundation, and the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation for this incredible opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to me."
The Bucks star said in the statement that he's "very proud" to be a part of the initiative, which will award grants to the Children's Wisconsin Foundation and the African American Breastfeeding Network to support maternal and infant health care, as well as to the Milwaukee Parks Foundation and Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers for accessible, safe physical environments.
